2018 Summer Theatre Youth Opportunities – on and offstage!

Port Perry Summer Theatre 2018 Youth Opportunities

At Theatre 3×60, we are all about developing new artists and supporting youth engagement with theatre, and our Port Perry Summer Theatre festival is becoming a great incubator and opportunity to build skills on and offstage for all ages!

Here’s what’s available this summer for youth and aspiring theatre artists from ages 7 and up.

Pre-Professional Performance Intensive and Apprenticeship Programs

“This program has taught me that acting is more than playing the part. It’s about feeling, seeing, touching, all of your senses and mindsets go into your role.”

“I have taken away so much more material that will definitely stick with me for my acting career.”

Our Pre-Professional Performance Intensive program returns with the added option of a Summer Company Apprenticeship. The Performance Intensive is a unique program designed for high school students and youth interested in auditioning for post-secondary theatre programs and pursuing theatre professionally. Participants who successfully audition for one or both of our main summer productions – Spamalot and Peter Pan, will have the opportunity to perform onstage with our summer company members, and receive their pre-professional performance intensive training at no charge. Pre-Professional Performance Intensive information and applications are available at

Auditions begin February 20 for Monty Python’s Spamalot and Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie and there are roles available for youth, young adults and adults. Audition information and forms are available at

And the musical is….

It may be just the beginning of winter, but we are already working on our 2017 Port Perry Summer Theatre season. We are thrilled to announce that our major musical production for next year will be The Mystery of Edwin Drood, under the direction of Theatre 3×60 Artistic Director, Carey Nicholson, with musical direction by Carol Salamone, founder of Cadenza Productions and special guest choreographer, Baiba Senecal.

Guests at the recent Scugog Mayor’s Gala for the Arts in Port Perry had a sneak peek of what’s in store, when Cadenza Productions presented an excerpt from this 1986 Tony award winning, Broadway success by Rupert Holmes, and based on the response at the Gala, we are sure our summer audiences are going to love this flamboyant rendition of the famous unfinished novel by Charles Dickens.

How can there be a musical based on an unfinished manuscript, you ask? Who knows how it should end? This musical is unique because, in addition to a great score with great characters, the audience picks the ending! No two performances are identical, and each night, audiences will have the fun of detecting who done it, along doing a little matchmaking on the side!

The show is a giddy play-within-a-play performed by a loony troupe of musical hall performers and finishes with one of the most talked-about, most unusual and hilarious finales in theatre history, making The Mystery of Edwin Drood the perfect summer entertainment for Port Perry Summer Theatre 2017.

Watch our website for dates and ticket information and packages, coming in the new year!

Want to be a part of Drood? Auditions take place in February, 2017. Full audition details at
