Port Perry Summer Theatre 2017 – a diverse line up and fresh new faces!

Theatre 3×60 brings a diverse line up and fresh new faces to Port Perry Summer Theatre this July and August! From contemporary musical cabaret, established and emerging Canadian playwrights, to site specific performances in the local cemetery, Theatre 3×60 has something for everyone this summer with Port Perry Summer Theatre.

The season opens at Town Hall 1873 on July 6 with Songs from the Shower, a musical cabaret co-produced with Cadenza Productions, featuring popular favorites and songs from the 21st century musical theatre repertoire. Canadian content is covered with our two non-musical productions, David French’s classic Salt-Water Moon (opens July 8th) and Stephen Massicotte’s Mary’s Wedding (opens July 18th). Both stories tell of young love in early 20th century Canada with charm, tenderness and humour. On alternating Wednesdays and Sundays, local heritage is brought to life in Pine Grove Plots: History To Die For, a site specific theatrical cemetery walk with local historian Paul Arculus through Prince Albert’s Pine Grove Cemetery. In early August, new plays are discovered during our 3xCanadian Staged Reading series featuring new work by local playwrights.

Not only is the line up diverse, but for the first time, the season schedule offers productions running concurrently through the month of July, making it even easier to include live theatre in your plans this summer. Only in town for one week? That’s not a problem! On any given week, there is the possibility of taking in up to 3 different Port Perry Summer Theatre events. Away on weekends? We have mid-week performances running through July and early August.

Want to make the most of your Saturday in Port Perry and save on tickets? On July 8th, 15th, and 22nd, catch one show in the afternoon and another in the evening and save $5/ticket/show. There’s a great selection of shops and restaurants in downtown Port Perry to fill the time between shows!

Audiences will recognize many of the performers appearing onstage this summer. Cast members are a mix of familiar and fresh faces, with artistic direction provided by Carey Nicholson, Carol Salamone and Michael Serres. Audience favorites from Durham include Todd Appleton, Lyle Corrigan, Donna Lajeunesse, Catherine Marzola, Andrew Smith and Michael Williamson. Joining us for the first time are Beverly Brown, Manon Ens-Lapointe, Trish Harris, Duncan Gibson-Lockhart, and Alexis MacCrae, with newcomers Evan Descary and Laura Cutting.
