Church of the Ascension, 266 North St., Port Perry
Live staged readings return to Arts at the Ascension with a seasonally appropriate murder mystery farce! Theatre 3×60 is presenting Rob Corbett’s Frozen Assets by Rob Corbett on Saturday, October 22, 7pm. at the Church of the Ascension in Port Perry. Proceeds from ticket sales will support the Arts at the Ascension’s outreach activities and Theatre 3×60’s community programming.
Billed as a deadly farce about lust, greed and freezer burn, Frozen Assets is the perfect, witty, comedic mystery, just in time for Hallowe’en. Is Stella really the long lost daughter of former opera diva and recluse, Madame Della Torre? Is Madame’s trusty assistant Paul really that trusty or is he in it for the big deal? And can detective Dick Spade outsmart the inevitable murderer? The mystery is revealed with many twists, turns and laughs along the way.
Playwright, Rob Corbett grew up in Uxbridge, was a founding member of the Uxbridge Players, and worked with both the Borelians and Scugog Choral Society in Port Perry before moving to Toronto. Rob has been a professional theatre artist for over thirty years working as a playwright, director, actor, and artistic director. His plays have been performed throughout Southern Ontario and in New York City. He holds an MFA in Creative writing from the University of British Columbia and teaches Scriptwriting and Acting at a number of colleges across the GTA including Sheridan, Seneca and Humber. Rob was recently on stage in Port Perry this past February, where he appeared as one of the gangsters in the Port Perry Confidential Musical Theatre Project’s Kiss Me Kate.
Audiences will remember previous Theatre 3×60 readings at the Ascension, including Renovations by Graeme Powell, which went on to a successful full production in Uxbridge, and The Tree of Life by Port Perry’s Frank Luke. Frozen Assets will be directed by Theatre 3×60 co-artistic director, Carey Nicholson and will include Carolyn Arnett, Marsha Cryderman, Reid Eastwood and Graeme Powell performing in the cast.
This delightfully suspenseful theatre event has one performance only on October 22, at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $10 (refreshments included) and may be purchased at the Church office at 266 North Street, by calling 905-985-7278 or at the door.
